Genetics weighing you down?

The New York Times has an interesting piece about the role of genetics in obesity, titled Genes Take Charge, and Diets Fall by the Wayside. Here's an interesting quote

...fat people who lost large amounts of weight might look like someone who was never fat, but they were very different. In fact, by every metabolic measurement, they seemed like people who were starving.

The piece is an excerpt from the book Rethinking Thin: The New Science of Weight Loss—and the Myths and Realities of Dieting by Gina Kolata.

Just to complicate things further, studies show that the fat you don't know about can be just as dangerous!
